Why Are Our Leaders Dropping Like Flies?

FliesEvery 6 Minutes a Leader Leaves the Ministry

Listen to the following statistics from a survey of  hundreds of ministers. 90% of ministers work more than 46 hours a week; 80% believe the ministry has affected their families negatively; 33% say that the ministry is an out-right hazard to their family; 50% feel unable to meet the needs of the job; 90% feel they were inadequately trained to cope with ministry demands; 70% say they have a lower self-image than when they started in the ministry; 40% report a serious conflict with a team member at   least once a month; 37% confess having been involved in some inappropriate sexual behavior with someone in the church; 70% do not have someone they consider a close friend. 85% of churches in America have plateaued or are in decline. These are the statistics of the ministers who were honest and courageous enough to even respond to the survey. The numbers may be worse!

Only 1 Out of 40 Ministers Entering the Ministry Today Will Retire as a Minister

We are in a real war and all Christian leaders are on the front lines. Most of our modern Churches have had a peacetime mentality when we should have a war-time mentality. There is a real devil doing everything in his power to destroy life-giving ministries that are boldly proclaiming the Gospel. Satan wants to smite all the shepherds so the sheep will scatter and become easy prey. We need to understand and support our leaders because they feed us the Word of the Lord week after week.

One Baptist minister stated they were losing ministers to all kinds of failings — that only 1 out of 10 ministers entering the ministry today are still there after ten years. Another clergy organization said that 1,600 ministers a month quit or are terminated from their churches in America. Every 6 minutes a pastor leaves the ministry and fewer people are entering our Bible Colleges and Seminaries.

One wise, veteran seminary professor welcomes his new ministerial students each semester with the following comment, “Congratulations on accepting the call to Christian leadership; you just increased your chances of going to hell by 50%”. Then the stunned students are given the brutal statistics about how many ministers not only quit the ministry but end up bitter, backslidden and even atheists! The deadly poison in the enemy’s arrows accomplished their seditious work in these leaders’ lives.

A lot of these statistics, as well as ministerial burnout, can be attributed to many causes. Chief among them are unscriptural governmental structures that actually foster strife and political maneuverings. Much of what we do today as contemporary “church” has its roots more in man-made traditions than it does in Scripture. We address these “governmental glitches” and distorted pastoral job descriptions in our books entitled, Roadkill Seminary and Working Together for Jesus. The system is broke and we must address it. It is, what it is, and we have to deal with the people who are in it now if lives are going to be saved.

Let us remember He who started a good work is Fatihful to complete it to the end if this be true which it is. Did he start this work or did they Food for thought

    Grace of Jesus to you

  4. Pastor Peace Akpabio says:

The minister ran with half of the gospel not the full gospel. Jesus said anyman that follows Him must carry his own cross. The whole truth is there is a cross to carry. Are the ministers properly informed? Those challenges are normal, but the question is “do you love me, feed my sheep” it takes the heart of love for Jesus to carry on even though everything seem to fail.

Why , why and again I say why I been resurrected by a savior that bought me with his blood, went to hell and took all authority out of the hand of the enemy and have gifts unto men , if you know who you are in him , receive his promise , be ENDUED with power , get your timid, whiny self centered self submitted and do the will of the father, love and evangelize the world , do what he did, hear what he heard, see what he saw , NORMALS NOT ENOUGH!!!!

  6. We as Christians and members of the congregation also add to the pains and sufferings of the honest God fearing Pastors/Leaders. There is too much poverty and hardship involved here. I should know as a Steward of a Ministry of God. Too much is demanded of you and people want free things and have this attitude that things of God are free. Seeking the Lord, fasting and spiritual warfare are not easy tasks. No body wants to fast. They find it difficult and expect the Pastor to do this. At the end of it, you find that you do not have school fees for your kids or rent money or food for your family. It is sad to note that the attitude of folks is that a servant of God should be in poverty and should not know or have anything good. Before we attack and give the devil credit which he does not deserve, let us examine our treatment of the faithful, loyal God fearing servants. How do we view them? How do we treat them? Do we support and pray for them? People expect prayers answered and miracles but do not have time to fast and pray for themselves. Least of all do we pray for the Servants of God. I resigned from my God given position of Steward of Trinity House of Prayer for all Nations (www.trinityhouseofprayer.org), because the demands were too much and yet could not even afford to pay ministry rent which was only USD 1,000 per month. For 18 years I have been working almost 20 hours every day doing deliverance and healing, teaching, preaching the Gospel, counseling, training spiritual soldiers etc. with no salary or allowance. Imagine handling 18+ people per day and the Lord heals, delivers and deals with all the cases that comes in. I am told, “You will get your reward when you go to heaven.” I have been the gardener, the tea girl, the Pastor, the Deliverance and Healing Minister, people come and expect to be entertained. God have mercy on some of us human beings, made in the image of God who profess Christ as our Lord and Savior.
